BLOOMINGDALE-Russell E. Nixon, 91, of Bloomingdale, Indiana passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at Union Hospital in Clinton.

He retired from the Ford Motor Company in Indianapolis with 26 years of service. He was also a Journeyman Plumber and Pipefitter. He was born August 6, 1929 in Greene Township, Parke County, Indiana to the late Everett Nixon and Celia Jines Nixon. His wife of 45 years, Jean Teater Nixon whom he married September 12, 1948 passed away December 26, 1993. On April 21, 1998 he married Evelyn Chamness Nixon who passed away October 6, 2010.

Survivors include his daughter, Susie (Jeff) Ray of Lafayette; daughter-in-law, Connie Nixon of Rockville; four grandchildren, Dan (Crystal) Nixon, Joyce (Rob) Forrest, Niki Tschaenn and Trisha (John) Fultz; eight great-grandchildren; special friend, Ann Eggleston of Clinton; He was preceded in death by his son, Ricky Nixon on January 29, 2018, two brothers, Charles and George Nixon and sister, Mary Edwards.

He was a graduate of Greene Township High School. He was a member of Bloomingdale Christian Church, Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 157, Bloomingdale Masonic Lodge 127 now Kingman Masonic Lodge 314, Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute, Zorah Shrine of Terre Haute, Parke County Low 12 Club, Covered Bridge Antique Power Association and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed collecting antique tractors and Railroad lanterns.

Services will be 1:00 pm Saturday, July 3, at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard Street, Rockville, with Pastor Rodney Coffman officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Moriah Cemetery north of Hollandsburg. Visitation is from 5-8 pm Friday at Gooch Funeral Home, with a Masonic memorial service conducted by Kingman Lodge 314 at 7:30 pm.

Memorials should friends so desire, may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607 in his memory.
