Barney, 67, of Fort Recovery, died at 8:42 a.m., at Mercer County Joint Township Community Hospital.

He was born to Leo and Mary (Stammen) Overman.

He married Julitta Agnes Meier, who survives in Fort Recovery.

Bernard a. Overman, 67, fort Recovery, died Thursday morning in the emergency room of Community Hospital, Coldwater, following a sudden illness. He was born June 7, 1925, in Maria Stein, to Leo and Mary (Stammen) Overman. On May 11, 1948, at St. Rose, he married Julitta Meier, who survives. Other survivors are seven daughters, Mrs. Dick (Marjorie) Keller, St. Henry, Mrs. John (Jean) Keller, Sidney, Mrs. Robert (Susan) Osterfeld, Montezuma, Mrs. Dave (Patricia) Adams, Celina, Mrs. Neil (Mary) Siefring, Coldwater, Mrs. Robert (Carol) Dirksen, Bryant, Ind., and Mrs. Michael (Angela) Siefring, Burkettsville; five sons, Robert, Jacksonville, Fla., and Daniel, John, Charles and Mark, all of Fort Recovery; three sisters, Mrs. Louis (Mary Ann) Rutschilling, Coldwater, Betty Kelley, Pompano Beach, Fla., and Bernie Frey, Dayton; two half brothers Edwin and Harold Overman, both Dayton; his mother-in-law, Rose Meier, Osgood; 29 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Joseph, two brothers, a half brother, and a granddaughter, Julie Keller. Mr. Overman was a retired farmer and active Cargill seed dealer. He was former director of the Mercer County Soil and Water Conservation District. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, during which he served with the 10th Mountain Division in Italy and was decorated with the Purple Heart. He was a charter member of the American Legion, Maria Stein. He also was a member of Disabled American Veteran, Celina, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Fort Recovery. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Fort Recovery, and its Men's society and choir. Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. Cornelius Fenton officiating.
