Kay was born the daughter of Leslie and Xyla (Burgess) Thomason on December 21, 1944 in Montgomery, Alabama.
In April of 1968 Kay married Roger Schenk. He passed away in April of 2002.
Survivors include her daughters: Tracy Schenk-Lara (Richard) of Wichita, Kansas and Cortney Peninger (Matt) of Wellington, Kansas; grandchildren: R.J. Lara, Kileigh Peninger, Andres Lara, Kennedee Lara, Nikki Peninger and Ashlee Peninger; brother-in-law, Don Schenk (Mary) of Joplin, Missouri; nieces, Kim and Kelly Tingle of Arizona and cousin, Xyla Ruth Savage of Maryland.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Karen Tingle.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, August 2, 2021 with the family being present from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Funeral services for Kay will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 3, 2021 in the chapel of Cornejo Funeral Home + Crematory in Wellington, Kansas.
Interment will follow at Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Wellington, Kansas.
A memorial fund has been established in her loving memory to the St. John's Lutheran Church. Contributions may be mailed or left with the funeral home.
