North Utica—Thomas ( Ottavio) Artessa, 55, of ??? Trenton Ave. died Saturday, March 31, at St. Luke's Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Utica , the son of Fortunato and Maria Greco Artessa . He received his education in the Utica school system.. In Utica in 1948 he was married to the former Betty Jane Clarke . For the past 27 years , Mr. Artessa had been employed by the Utica Mutual Insurance Company. He was a member of St. Peter's Church, Utica and the 25 year Club of Utica Mutual . Mr. Artessa was a Democratic committeeman of the 17th ward he was a veteran of W.W. ll.
Mr. Artessa is survived by his wife and his mother , both of Utica , one daughter , Mrs. Ralph ( Mary) Chieco of Utica ; three sons , Jamie , Utica, Gregg, Whitesboro and Andrew, at home , Thee sisters, Mrs. Charles ( Rose) Duggleby Blossvale , Mrs. Raymond ( Katherine) Poynter, Veron and Mrs. Anthony ( Betty) Angerosa , Utica; five brothers, Anthony, Clinton , Frank of Oneida, Joseph, Carmen and Morris all of Utica ; two grandsons , Mark Chieco and Timothy Artessa . There are also several nieces and nephews .
Funeral will be Tuesday morning at 8:15 at the Heintz Funeral Home , 1517 Whitesboro St., and at 9:00 at St. Peters's Church , North Utica . Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday 7-9 and Monday 2-4 and 7-9
