John Feldbusch (Johnny Bush), 77, of 3827 S. 12th St., a former professional boxer from Sheboygan, died Monday night at his home.
He was born Aug. 10, 1907, in Krasnajahr, Russia, a son of Casper and Kathrine Reichert Feldbusch. He attended Trinity Lutheran and Sheboygan schools.
In the late 1920s, he was known as Johnny Bush and boxed professionally in the middleweight division throughout Wisconsin. After his professional career, he was a trainer for several amateur boxers in the Sheboygan area. He also was a fight promoter and arranged boxing matches locally at the former Turner Hall and Eagles Club.
On Jan. 2, 1928, he married Nelda Ebeling at Zion United Church of Christ.
He served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II.
Mr. Feldbusch was employed as a commercial engraver at Hammersmith-Kortmeyer engraving company in Milwaukee for more than 20 years. Later, he was employed by Commercial Engraving Co. in Sheboygan for seven years. He was employed as a parking lot attendant for H.C. Prange Co. following his retirement as an engraver.
Mr. Feldbusch was a member of St. Paul United Church Christ, the ushers club and Merry Hearts Club and was a retired member of the church consistory. He was a member of the Turner Stein Club and VFW Wolf Olson Post 1230 and was the VFW post chaplain for 12 years; He was also a member of Sheboygan Masonic Lodge No. 11 and the International Engravers Union.
Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Joyce) Holzer and Mrs. Michael (Carol) Konrad, both of Sheboygan; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Fred Feldbusch of Sheboygan; and one sister, Mrs. Christ Arnst of Sheboygan.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, a grandson, and 10 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be at 1 : 30 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul United Church of Christ. The Rev. Charles Koch, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at Ramm-Ziegler Funeral Home after 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, until 10 a.m. Thursday, then at the church from 11 a.m. until time of services. Wolf-Olson Post 1230 will conduct memorial services at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
A memorial fund has been established in Mr. Feldbusch's name.
