Mr. Lippold was born in Tripp County, S.D., and lived most of his life in St. Marys, where he owned Lippold Hardware and was also postmaster for 30 years. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and Warren County Historical Society, and was a longtime sexton of St. Marys Cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Lucille; four daughters, Mary Kahler of St. Marys, Therese Crawford of Indianola, Margaret Spencer of Midvale, Utah, and Sharon Findley of Afton; two sons, Jerome of Norwalk and John of Huntington Beach Calif.; a sister Bernice Iosbaker of Mason City; 45 grandchildren; 99 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
