Dr. Paul E. Milem, DDS received his eternal promise from the Lord. He moved on peacefully to his next journey December 16, 2020. Paul was born October 14, 1929, in Ironton, to Raymond A. Milem and Dora E. (White) Milem. In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by brothers Wayne, Jack and Bill; sister Virginia; and wife Margaret (Layne), whom he married December 26, 1955.

Paul is survived by wife, Din (Paxton) Milem, whom he married July 14, 1991; brother Norm; son Dr. Jeffrey Milem (Rose Santellano-Milem); daughters Sue Milem and Jamie Milem-Oettinger (Tom); stepchildren Bob (Dee), Joni (Karen), Doug (Melissa) Paxton; grandchildren, Alfredo Cisneros (Jen), Keanu, Michael and Laynie Oettinger, Stephanie, Caprice, Brittany, Stone, Hunter, Fisher, Scarlett Paxton, Amber, Jonathon and Tiffany. He also leaves great-grandchildren, Tony, Marcus, Aurora and Mia. Paul is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends around the world.

Paul graduated from Ironton High School after which he joined the Navy. He was a proud Korean War veteran for which our nation is grateful. Paul attended The Ohio State University for both his undergraduate and dental degrees via the GI Bill. Paul and Margaret moved to Sunbury in 1963 to open his dental practice and raise their children. He was active in the community with Lions Club, Masons, Boy Scouts (as a leader) and the Sunbury United Methodist church in several capacities including the choir, youth group and mission trips.

Paul initiated and helped build "Papa's Bridge" to the community library. He portrayed St. Nicholas at the annual Christmas on the Square for many years. He served as president of the Central Ohio Dental Society and was a member of the American and Ohio Dental Associations. Paul taught at OSU Dental School part-time for several years. After selling his dental practice, Paul started his mission work and became a traveling dentist in which he benefited many patients in nursing facilities. He also traveled to Haiti, Honduras and Mexico where he provided free dental care.

Paul knew no stranger. He loved and was loved by all he met. Paul had many hobbies including designing and making jewelry, camping, Buckeye basketball and football (maybe that's why he worked there), gardening, traveling and most importantly, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

We are blessed to know he was a loyal and faithful servant of his Lord and his faith was strong. "Job well done Loyal and Faithful Servant…When you took care of the least of them you took care of me."

A memorial service will be announced at a later date when it is safe to travel and gather. In lieu of flowers, please do something kind for another and/or give to Making Grins Outreach (5400 North High Street, Columbus, OH 43214) in Paul's name. Special thank you to Capital City Hospice and Centerburg Pointe for their loving care of Paul.
