Gene A. Seehusen was born on Friday; March 31, 1933 in Monticello; Jones County, Iowa. He was the son of: Henry and Leone Serbousek Seehusen. He graduated from Monticello High School in 1951. He entered the United States Army in 1953, served in Korea for 18 months and was discharged in 1955. He married Jean A. Bell on Saturday; July 30, 1955 in Council Bluffs; Pottawattamie County, Iowa. Gene graduated with a BA degree in secondary education from Iowa State Teachers College in 1958. He taught in the College Community School District for 34 years and coached for 16 of those years. He retired in 1992.
Gene was an avid Hawkeye and Prairie Hawk fan, loved auto racing, woodworking and going to casinos. Gene A. Seehusen, age 74, of Cedar Rapids; Linn County, Iowa passed away on Friday; November 23, 2007 at Northbrook Manor after a long illness. Those left to mourn his passing are: His wife: Jean. His two daughters: Gwen & her husband: Rick Buchheim of Marion; Linn County, Iowa. Gayle of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. His son: Greg of Seattle; King County, Washington and his sister: Jane & her husband: Bob Barton of Sarasota; Sarasota County, Florida. His grandchildren: Sara Buchheim & her fiancé: Rodney Kleve of Madison; Dane County, Wisconsin. Brett Buchheim of Des Moines; Polk County, Iowa and Andrea Buchheim of Hiawatha; Linn County, Iowa. A sister-in-law: Beulah Seehusen of Omaha; Douglas County, Nebraska. A brother-in-law: Robert Bell of Munster; Lake County, Indiana. His nieces, nephews and a grand dog: Maggie. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother: Jim and a daughter-in-law, Sandy. May they rest in peace. Visitation will be from: 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday; November 25, 2007 at the funeral home. Per Gene's request there will be no service. Inurnment will be at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum Columbarium. Memorial donations may be given to Hospice of Mercy or the Michael J. Fox Parkinson's Association in Gene's name. Gene's family would like to thank Hospice of Mercy, Dr. Hayes, Dr. Peterson, and the staff of Northbrook Manor Care Center for their compassionate care of Gene.
