Anna Elise Henriette Margarethe Blank (nee Bartels), was born May 8, 1861, in Bekhausen, Rastede Parish, Oldenburg Grand Duchy, now in the Ammerland Kreis (District), Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony) Province, Germany. Her parents were Berend Bartels, born December 31, 1823, in Bekhausen, Rastede Parish, Oldenburg Grand Duchy, and Anna Catharina Reins, born November 5, 1824, in Jaderkreuzmoor, Jade Parish, Oldenburg Grand Duchy, now in the Wesermarsch Kreis (District), Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony) Province, Germany. She arrived in New York City on Oct 15, 1891, with her husband, Johann Berend Blank, and five children, on the Ship Spree. They then travelled to Texas, where five more children were born.
