Mary L. Sutton, age 100, of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at Elwood Health and Living. She was born in Tipton County, Indiana on May 7, 1921, to the late Joseph and Hilda (Peters) Gall. On June 30, 1951, she married Wayne Max Sutton they shared 35 years of marriage together before he passed away on Sept. 19, 1985.

Mary graduated in 1938, from St. John's Academy in Tipton. She retired from Jim Dandy Restaurants where she worked as a cook for several years. She was a devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mary enjoyed caring for her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren and quilting.

Mary's legacy includes three sons, James (Dianne) Sutton of Charlotte, NC, Ronald J. Sutton of Elwood, IN, and William (Sandy)Sutton of Avon Park, FL; grandchildren, Eric Lambert of Fishers, IN, Stephanie (Adam) Johnson of Jacksonville, FL, Craig Sutton of Charlotte, NC, and Chris (Tara) Lambert of Indianapolis, IN; great grandsons, Teddy Lambert and Henry Lambert; two brothers, John (Emma) Gall and Thomas (Rita) Gall; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Gall, mother, Hilda Gall, husband, Wayne Max Sutton; daughter, Rosann Jones; and siblings, Joseph Gall, Helen Plumer, Edward Gall, Sister Laura Gall, and Gertrude Glotzbach.



Visitation will be on Friday, September 3, 2021, from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson St., Elwood, Indiana. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am Saturday, September 4, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Elwood, Indiana with Fr. Dennis Goth officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Elwood.
