Ben was born to Nils Fredrick Blomquist and Matilda Frank Persson. His father left the family and moved away with his fisrt plural wife leaving Matilda to raise Benny, his two brothers (Fredrick Hiram "Fred" - born December 1869 - married Mary Anna Blomgren in 1897, and George L. - born about 1871)and a sister (Mary Matilda Blomquist - born 21 March 1876, married Joseph W. Taylor in 1898, and died 5 June 1914 in Santaquin, Utah County, Utah).

Ben married Annetta Sophia Westenskow (daughter of Peter Olsen Westenskow and Ane Anderson "Annie" Peterson) on 15 February 1898 in Manti City, Sanpete County, Utah.

Ben and Nettie had thirteen children:

1. William Leray Bloomquist (my grandfather - third marriage was to my grandmother, Mary Louis Freeby).
2. Benjamin Ace Bloomquist (died young)
3. Wallace Victor Bloomquist
4. Elica Valera (Jeanne Mavie) Bloomquist Grigg
