Dave John Rusch Schaffer
He was born April 18, 1922, in Southard to John and Rechena Mann Rusch and died Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010, at Fairview Fellowship Home.

He was raised by his older sister, Katie, due to his mother's death when he was born. He grew up in Southard and attended school through the ninth grade.

He married and moved to Wisconsin for a short time before returning to Fairview, where he worked for Sears and sold insurance. He opened his first restaurant in Okeene and several more restaurants over the years. He also owned and operated Schaffer Steaks in Fairview.

He married Thelma in 1994. They moved to Fairview Fellowship Home in 2005.

Surviving are his wife, Thelma, of Fairview; four sons, Leonard Ray Schaffer and Carl Lee Schaffer, both of California, John David Schaffer of Arizona and Lester Schaffer of Florida; one daughter, Diane Terry of Texas; five stepsons, Kenneth Haws, Michael Haws, Philip Haws and Douglas Haws, all of Oklahoma and Roger Lynn Haws of Missouri; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter and 11 siblings.
