Member of Cherokee County Agricultural Conservation Association board. He organized the first cow testing association in Labette county and had one of the largest Jersey herds in the region. He was also a member of the German Lutheran church.

Married Emma Hoy August 22, 1901 in Oswego, Kansas.

Survivors include his wife, Emma; three daughters, Dora Baugher, Nina Eubanks and Bernice Pryor; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild; one sister, Mrs. J. E. Marshall and two brothers, Garrett and Fritz.
