John Richard Whulio Olsen 52 of Tennessee and Harbor Springs passed away June 4, 2012 at Hiland Cottage in Petoskey. He was born Aug. 26, 1959 in Detroit to John F. and Inge G. (Drielech) Olsen. He grew up in Harbor Springs where he attended school graduating in 1977. He enlisted in the Army in 1981 and served in Germany as a munitions specialist. He was honorably discharged in 1983. John worked in construction for most of his career and was working as a painter in Tennessee for the past 12 years. John was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed riding his custom Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He was a life member of Motorcycle Riders Club of America and the North American Hunting Club. John was also known as a practical joker with a great sense of humor. John is survived by his mother Inge Reskevics of Harbor Springs, his daughter Haley Rose Olsen of Knoxville, Tn., half brothers Andres Reskevics and Walter Reskevics, step-sisters Anita Faust and Vija Wilkinson, several nieces and nephews and his dearest friends Joe and Sally Richardson of Harbor Springs. A celebration of his life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers those wishing to honor his memory are encouraged to make donations to his mother Inge Reskevics 522 Windmere Pines Harbor Springs, Mi. 49740.
