Hildegard W. Detjen, 94, of Emden, died at 8:19 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, 2000, at Hopedale Medical Center in Hopedale.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 17, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Emden with the Rev. Darby Lawrence officiating.

Burial will be at Hartsburg Union Cemetery in Hartsburg.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Emden and one hour before the service at the church on Friday.

Mrs. Detjen and her husband served Lutheran congregations in Courtland, Minn., and Chicago, as well as in Emden.

She was born March 30, 1905, at Shakopee, Minn., a daughter of William and Elizabeth (Cords) Lange. She married the Rev. John Detjen Aug. 30, 1922, at Shakopee, Minn. He died Feb. 20, 1962.

Surviving are two sons, Detlef Detjen (and wife, Georgia) of Orland Hills and John Detjen (and wife, Mary) of Lincoln; one daughter, Dolores Chapman (and husband, Gene) of Emden; 14 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. John Detjen; one daughter, Hildegarde Meeker; one grandson, Steven Meeker; and her brother, the Rev. Fred Lange.

She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Emden and of the church's Ladies Aid Society. She was also a member of the Oasis Senior Center in Lincoln.

Her family indicates that she was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Her faith was an inspiration to all of her family. She was very much loved and will be greatly missed by all.
