James Floyd Cheek, 86, of Scurry, TX passed away on November 15, 2021. James was born on January 23, 1935 in Oklahoma. He was in the Army tank infantry and retired a Staff Sergeant. James married Christine Cheek on May 12, 1956 in Dallas, TX and they've been together a loving 65 years. He loved people and kids. He made all kinds of things in his wood shop and toy shop. He built barbeque pits and smokers. James owned Cheeks radiation shop in Terrell. He even started a family band, Cheek and his Outlaws. He was a member of the VFW. James was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. His father Willie Floyd Cheek, brothers: Curly, Burl, Raymond and L.D.; and sister Lois preceded him in death. Those left to cherish his memory are son Sammy Cheek, daughter Debra Richards and husband Randy, grandson Clint Richards and wife Crystal; great grandchildren: Madison, Macie, Mason Richards; nieces: Francis Esquivel and husband Armando and Rosemary White and husband Roy; numerous extended family and friends who will miss him dearly. In lieu of flowers family has asked that donations be made to the Wounded Warriors Fund or a local VFW.
