Allen Gene Michaelson, 84, of Two Harbors, died after a brief illness, on Friday, 22 January 2021 at home, surrounded by his family.

Allen was born to Clarence and Isabel (Johnson) Michaelson on 14 May 1936 in Thompson, Iowa. The family soon moved to Northwood, Iowa and then in 1941 moved to Glenville, Minnesota where he attended country school. About 1946 they moved to Kiester, Minnesota where he graduated from the Kiester High School in 1954. Al attended North Central Bible College in Minneapolis and later, Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri.

Al moved to Two Harbors, Minnesota where he met his future wife, Mary Swanson. They were married on 8 October 1960. He was employed by Reserve Mining Company, later Northshore Mining from 1959 until retiring in 2002. When the mine went on strike, he and his brother Cal took an RV to South Dakota and worked on the Oahe Dam until the mine reopened. For several summers Al worked at Anderson's Greenhouse. During retirement he was a driver for AEOA and Sonju Motors.

Al received Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior when he was 14 years old. His life was centered around his faith and his family. A faithful member and Elder Emeritus of Living Waters Fellowship, Al was an active supporter of missions and missionaries, and other worthy causes. He went on a mission trip to Mexico to share the love and Gospel of Jesus Christ with the people there.

Al loved music and frequently sang duets in church with his wife. He also sang in the Revivaltime Choir in Springfield, Missouri, The Singing Cross, Spirit Wind and Superior Sound. Allen enjoyed playing baseball, football, basketball, pool, chess and checkers and was an avid Vikings fan, often coaching from the couch. Al enjoyed traveling. He took family trips throughout the United States, Canada, India, Hungary, and the Dominican Republic.

Al was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters- Ione Neinoord and Phyllis Thomas; and his brothers- Mervin, Donald, and Earl Michaelson.

Those privileged to have shared Allen's life include his wife of 60 years, Mary; 3 children- Rebecca (Gennaro) Migliaccio, Julie (Tim) Holdsworth, and Joel (Serena) Michaelson; 12 grandchildren- Joseph, Dominic (Angie), Julia, Rosa, Vincent, Micah, Marie, and Haddon Migliaccio, Jaden and Tamryn Holdsworth, and Charles and Malachi Michaelson; 4 siblings- Carroll (Phyllis) Michaelson, Dorothy (Dale) Edwards, Sharon (Jack) Johnson, and Paul (Gloria) Michaelson; many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in Allen's memory can be made to Living Waters Fellowship, Missionary Fund.
