AUSTIN -- The funeral Mass for Mary Ann Machacek will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin, with the Rev. Joe Fogal officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Austin.

Mrs. Machacek, 68, of Austin, died Thursday (Dec. 20, 2007) at her home.
She is survived by her husband, Rex of Austin; two daughters, Lynn (Brian) Klapperick of Austin and Kelly (Pat) Hansen of Burnsville, Minn.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Marjorie Michels of Stacyville, Iowa, and Theresa (Roy) Baldus of Austin.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Mayer Funeral Home in Austin, and an hour before the service Saturday at the church. There will be a CCW Rosary at 4 p.m. and a wake service at 7:30 p.m., both today at the funeral home.

Mary Ann Machacek, 68, died peacefully at her home after a nine month battle with cancer.

Mary was born on the family farm in Meyer, Iowa, on Sept. 9, 1939. The family moved to Austin in 1942. She attended St. Augustine Grade School, and graduated from Pacelli High School. She married Rex Machacek at St. Augustine Church in 1958. Mary had numerous hobbies which include: sewing, gardening, refinishing antique furniture, camping, bowling, gambling and spending time with family.

Mary is survived by her husband, Rex Machacek; children, Lynn (Brian) Klapperick, Austin, Kelly (Pat) Hansen, Burnsville; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; sisters, Marjorie Michels, Stacyville, Iowa, Theresa (Roy) Baldus, Austin.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Julia Werner; brothers, John, Joseph, Donald and Leon Werner; sister Agnes Canny Pavlick.

Her casket bearers were Jennifer Klapperick, Jeffrey Austin, Andrew Klapperick, Kathryn Austin, Gage Hansen, Kristina Austin and Jon Hansen.
