Norbert Lewandowski, age 86, of Foley, died Sat., Dec. 8 at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial was Thursday, December 13 at St. John's Catholic Church, Foley. The Rev. Greg Paffel officiated. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Military honors were provided by the Foley American Legion.

Norbert Lewandowski was born April 21, 1921 in Alberta Township to Enoch and Anna (Wojciechowski) Lewandowski. He was an Army Air Force Veteran of WWII serving the 1539th Ordinance Company in the Pacific Theatre and was wounded in combat. He married Lorraine Zaworski January 29, 1946 at St. John's Catholic Church in Foley.

He lived most of his life in Foley and ran Lewandowski Implement, supplying and repairing Case farm equipment, chainsaws, mini-bikes and snowmobiles for local residents. Later in life he worked at Smith Systems in Princeton.

He brought joy to those around him with his jokes, humor, story telling and miniature wood carvings. Norb always enjoyed time with family, friends, neighbors and especially grandchildren. He loved to take his family on "spins" around the countryside, even after he was in the Foley Nursing Center. He was always willing to visit (for 3 minutes) and share a meal with anyone in need. Norb was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Foley; the Foley Knight's of Columbus Bishop Marty Council #3603; the Foley American Legion Post 298; and a member of the Crosier Apostolate.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine, Foley; sons and daughters, Clyde (Connie), St. Cloud; Bob (Lucy), Madison, SD; Ron (Barb), New Brighton; Cherie (Tom) Kampa, Becker; and Susan (Steve) Zwinger, Poway, CA; brothers and sister, Irene Greiner, Tom, Florence Gotvald, Dennis and Lee; 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Dorothy (Sr. Noel), Rosella (Sr. Veronica), Louis, Sylvester, Jerome (Jim), Catherine Dorothy Konen, Herman Carl, Leroy (Roy) and Alphonse.
