Henry Laverne Frank, known as Henry, Verne, Mr. Frank, Dad and Grandpa, age 86, passed away on December 9, 2021 in Lincoln, California. Born in Mitchell, NE, the son of Henry and Effie Herdt Frank, he grew up in the Scottsbluff area, working on family farms and ranches. In 1953, he graduated from Sunflower Consolidated School in Mitchell. He served in the U.S. Army 8th Infantry Division in Germany. After honorable discharge, he farmed in the Scottsbluff area. In 1961, he married Nancy Ann Watson from Casper, WY. They had two children, Janine and Henry David (Hank). He graduated with a Bachelors Degree from the University of Nebraska and earned his Masters Degree from Central Michigan University. He taught school and worked for Swift & Company in Denver, CO before starting his career with the U.S. Air Force as a Logistics Management Trainee at the Ogden Air Materiel Area, Hill AFB, Utah. Career advancement took him to the Air Force Logistics Command Headquarters, at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, where he became the Deputy Director of Materiel Management. He retired from Warner-Robins Air Materiel Area, Robins AFB, Georgia in 1993 after 30 years of service. In 1993, he married Sheryl Porter, in Little River, CA. They enjoyed retirement by traveling throughout the United States, Canada, and four other continents. He enjoyed designing houses, four of which he built in Pleasant View, UT, Perry, GA, El Dorado Hills and Auburn, CA; wood carving and landscaping. He was a member of the American Historical Society Germans from Russia, Lincoln, Nebraska Chapter.

In the words of two who called him "Grandpa": "He didn't have to love me, but he chose to He didn't have to make his way into my heart, but he did". "He was a great man and loved by his family". We miss him. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Scottsbluff, NE at a later date to be announced.
