She was surrounded by her husband of 51 years, Paul Freiberger, Jr., and her children, Paul Freiberger III (Melissa), Dana Freiberger, Sarah Herley (John), Elizabeth Ernstberger (Seth), Ashley Mitchell (Adam), and Nicole Freiberger. Sharon is also survived by her grandchildren, Max and Gracie Freiberger, Aiden and Bella Herley, Augustus, Solomon, Artemas, Cyprian, and Raphael Ernstberger, Jillian Kavgazoff, and Annabelle Mitchell; siblings, Stanley Byerley (Charlotte), Keith Byerley (Gloria Jean), Steve Byerley (Mary Lou), Gary Byerley (Lori), Ronald Byerley (Patti), Sr. Karen Byerley OSB, Veronica Hardie (John Howard), and Paula Chandler (Robert); and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Mary (Ellenbrand) Byerley.
Sharon devoted her life to her family and her faith. She was a devout Catholic, beginning with St. Mary of the Knobs, then studying at Our Lady of Grace Academy, and was a parishioner of O.L.P.H. for 45 years. She was quick with a smile or a laugh and was forever spreading joy to all those that knew her. It seemed as if there was nothing she couldn't do: a master chef, artist, poet, floral arranger, costume designer. With her green thumb, she could often be found in her garden enjoying her multitude of flowers and herbs. She was a competitive Euchre and Pinochle player. Sharon was a mother extraordinaire who believed in the healing power of sunshine. To her family, she was their sunshine.
After raising six children of her own, Sharon spent her time at O.L.P.H. helping to educate young minds. She enjoyed the time she spent there so much and the friendships she made. When her grandchildren came along, she was there to hold them, rock them, and chase after them, with a heart full of love and boundless energy. Evidence of her generous, joyful spirit is all around in the smiles of all the many people that love her and have been loved by her. She adored her lifelong friends and her family. We are all eternally grateful for all those that lifted her spirit during these difficult months. Your prayers, calls, cards, and visits were priceless to her and to us.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 13, 2022 and on Monday after 11:00 a.m. Her funeral mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Monday at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church (5719 St. Mary's Road, Floyds Knobs) with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
