Son of Josef & Esther Engressia.

Josef Carl Engressia, Jr. was blind and had a reputed I.Q. of 172. In the mid 1950's, he learned how to cheat the telephone company of long distance calling by whistling the appropriate frequencies into the telephone mouthpiece. He has since been known as the original phone phreak.

After being arrested for fraud by using his technique for "free" long distance phone service, he negatiated employment with phone companies in Tennessee and Colorado as a troubleshooter.

In 1991, he legally changed his name to Joybubbles and declared that he was 5 years old...as he did until the day he died.

He established a telephone call-in service called Stories and Stuff which people could call and listen to recorded messages, usually ending with "Take care of each other, stay strong, find some time to play". Joybubbles also became a minister in his own church, called Church of Eternal Childhood.

Josef was predeceased by his father, Josef Carl Engressia, Sr.

He is survived by his mother, Esther Engressia and his sister, Toni Engressia, both of Homestead, Florida.
