'MAN EXITING SPID DIES IN ROLLOVER ACCIDENT'

"CORPUS CHRISTI — A 24-year-old man died about 2:30 a.m. Friday after his sport utility vehicle slammed the back of a pickup, struck a light pole and flipped through a fence after exiting westbound South Padre Island Drive at Weber Road.

"Marcus Martinez of Corpus Christi was thrown from the Chevrolet Tahoe before it crashed into a nightclub, police said. He died at the scene, police said.

"'Preliminary investigation shows that excessive speed is the primary factor,' said Capt. Tim Wilson of the Corpus Christi Police Department's uniform division. The speed limit for that road is 60 mph, and the area is a location where daytime ramp reversal construction is ongoing.

"The woman driving the pickup was not injured, according to reports."
