Nettie B. (Rieck) Liljegren was born on November 27, 1918, in Hamlin County, South Dakota the daughter of Albert and Tena (Duesterback) Rieck. She received her education in rural school in Hamlin County, SD.
Nettie was united in marriage to Carl G. Liljegren on September 27, 1940, in DeSmet, SD. After their marriage they farmed in Kingsbury County until moving to a farm in Hamlin County. Carl died on September 6, 1991. Nettie continued to live on the farm until 1995, when she moved into Estelline. Nettie was employed for many years at the Estelline Hospital and later at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center. She died on Friday, January 11, 2008, at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center at the age of 89.
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Estelline and the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed crocheting, playing card and quilting. She especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Grateful for having shared her life are her children Lloyd (Yvonne) Liljegren of New Prague, MN, Roger (Lori) Liljegren of Estelline, SD, Mary Ann (Darwin) Rector of Dayton, WY, Karla (Mike) Morris of Craig, CO; six grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; three great grandchildren; 20 step great grandchildren; one sister Minnie Moeller of Estelline, SD; one sister-in-law Freda Rieck of Lake Preston, SD; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers Ernest, Henry and Emil.
