Kurt Erwin Bargmeyer Age 99, was born in Germany on 2/12/1916 to Ernst Bargmeyer and Thea Jacobs Bargmeyer, the youngest of 5 siblings. The family arrived at Ellis Island in 1921. They traveled by train to Montesano, WA to reside near relatives. He graduated Montesano High in 1934 and UW in 1940. Kurt taught in Centralia for 3 years, followed by 34 years in the Puyallup School District. He retired in 1978 as the Director of Special Services. He spent 17 more years serving as Education Building Superintendent at the Puyallup Fair. He passed away at home in Tacoma, WA on 11/18/2015. Kurt is survived by his wife of 77 years, Florence Watson Bargmeyer, a registered nurse, and by 3 sons, Alan (Janet), Bruce (Linda), and Larry (Frances), 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be 1pm Wed., 12/2/2015, in the South Chapel at First Presbyterian Church, 102 Tacoma Ave. South, Tacoma 98402. Donations may be made to the Kurt Bargmeyer Scholarship at the Puyallup Schools Foundation, PO Box 55, Puyallup 98371.
