Son of Douglas & Alvina (Muhle) Groteluschen.
He graduated from Columbus High School in 1956. He entered the United States Navy on May 28, 1956 and was honorably discharged on May 19, 1960. Doug then continued his education by going to an Engineering college. Doug married Yvonne Weber on May 6, 1961, in Monroe, Nebraska. Douglas worked for Behlen Manufacturing, Goodall in Ogallala, Nebraska, Ogallala Electric, and in 1990 moved to Lincoln, Nebraska where he owned Magnetic Consulting, Inc. Doug was an avid trap shooter, enjoyed hunting, fishing, and horse racing. While he lived in Ogallala he was a member of the Ogallala Dive Team, Jaycees, Elks, and VFW.
