Obituary for Debra Ann Champney

Debra Ann Champney (nee Ferguson), 61, of Amherst, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, May 31st, 2022. She was born October 29th, 1960 in Glenville, West Virginia. Debbie graduated from South Amherst High School in 1978 and received her Bachelors degree from Cleveland State University, in Nutrition.

Debbie loved cooking, reading, gardening, thrifting, and teaching others her many skills. She was most proud of her girls.

Debbie is survived by her girls; Angela (Scott) Cornelius and Leah Champney, her dog, Joy, and grand-dog, Cleopatra, all of Amherst. She is also survived by her sister, Rebecca (Jon) Mitchell, of Columbia Station, brother, Carl (Beverly), of West Virginia, sister-in-law, Mary Maschari Smith, and her best friends; Denise Barnes and Joyce (Bobby) Rhodes. Debbie is a loved aunt and great aunt. She is preceded in death by her parents; Carl and Mary (nee Moore) Ferguson, beloved son, Frazier, husband, Kenyon Champney, and niece, Kathleen Champney.

A celebration of Debbie's life is being held in her honor on Saturday, June 11th, 2022 from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm at the Antlers Ballroom, 300 Washington Avenue, Lorain, OH. The Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, is assisting the family with arrangements.
