Cumberland Snell was the son of John (Sr.) Snell
and Nancy Elizabeth "Betsy" WATTS.
He was married to Elizabeth Emison on 1806 in
Scott County, Kentucky.

Their children were:(1) Mary Snell, born February 13, 1805; m. Priestly H. McBride (later a judge of the Missouri Supreme Court), February 7, 1827; in Boone County;

(2) John Ashby Snell, b. November 4, 1806, lived in Paris, Monroe Co., Mo.; m. Susan Woods, Paris, 1833 (children Amanda M. Snell, 1837, and Eliza W. Snell; listed in 1840 census, Monroe Co., Mo., Union Township, p. 128);

(3) Julia Ann (Juliann) Snell, m. Ebenezer W. McBride, December 16, 1830, in Boone County;
