She was born at home in Cedar Lake Township on Feb. 26, 1922, to Henry and Clara (Merker) Hamdorf during a blizzard. Her uncle Bill Hamdorf hitched up the horse and buggy and drove into town to get the doctor for the delivery. She grew up on a farm outside of Aitkin and graduated from the Aitkin High School. She married Henry Juracek on Sept. 21, 1941. They farmed for many years at Sunset Lake and later at their farm on the Deerwood Shortcut.
Her children were her life's work. She was an avid reader, loved hiking, and was known to wake the family late at night to see the northern lights and other nighttime sights. She sang her way through her work. She loved animals, especially her cats and dogs.
Funeral services were held Jan. 21 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Iron Hub. Burial was at the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Henry; sons, David (Joyce) Juracek, Ironton; Philip (Paula) Juracek, Ironton; daughters, Louise (Mark) Hall, Bakersfield, Calif., and Evelyn (Dave) Schroeder, Crystal; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Tyren, Reedsport, Ore.; and many nieces and nephews. She cherished her friends, Helen Probst, Pastor Dean Stolz and wife, Janet; and her many friends at Bethany Good Samaritan Village. She was preceded in death by her brother, Albert Hamdorf.
