Marilyn Ann Eggert Harre, age 83, passed away peacefully July 11, 2022. Marilyn loved to write, listen, and connect with people. Her empathy and compassion were readily displayed in all her endeavors. Marilyn worked for many years for Command and General Staff College at Ft Leavenworth and most recently, for DEMDACO in Leawood KS – by far, her absolute favorite job. It brought her immeasurable joy.

She was born Feb 28th, 1939, in Leavenworth KS to Martin J. and Ina M. (Carrier) Eggert. She is survived by her son Martin (Petra) Harre; a daughter Ann (Greg) Harre Elwell; Robert (Tami) Harre; a sister Mary Diane Hesse; a sister Catherine Eleanor Blume; and grandchildren Simon Elwell, Liza Elwell, Dani Crosby, Dana Bybee; great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Marilyn was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Bob; wonderful daughter-in law, Tami; and both of her parents, Marty, and Ina.

We know that Marilyn was welcomed with open arms by Christ, as well as her family and friends who had passed on and were holding a place for her. Of course, she will be watching over all of us.

We would like to take this opportunity to express our deepest and most sincere gratitude to all those who helped care for Marilyn, so that she could remain in her home as long as possible. Most notably: Some very special friends who helped provide care for Marilyn; the Visiting Nurses' Association who provided excellent and priceless in-home care; and Olathe Hospice House, who ensured a peaceful and compassionate transition. Deep gratitude is also due to her friends and colleagues who have become our friends through this journey, and who carried us by sharing their joyful energy in our home and at the Hospice House, as well as coordinating Marilyn's celebration of a life well-lived.

Marilyn would want us to emphasize her unending gratitude to her DEMDACO colleagues for allowing her to be part of a wonderful group of people. Marilyn saw you as her second family.

The rosary and visitation will be held at Warren-McElwain Mortuary/Eudora Chapel, 1003 John L Williams Dr., Eudora KS from 6:00 ~ 8:00 pm with a Rosary at 7:00 pm on Thursday, July 14, 2022. Her service celebrating being welcomed into Christs' arms will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 408 E Elm St., Eudora KS at 10:00 am on Friday, July 15, 2022 (Luncheon to follow). Marilyn will be laid to rest at Mt Calvary Cemetery, 1011 Desoto Rd, Lansing KS. 66209 following her celebration and the luncheon.

Marilyn requested that any memorials be given to the Visiting Nurses' Association or to the DEMDACO Scholarship Fund (Please make out checks to: DEMDACO, 5000 W. 134th St., Leawood KS. Please note that this is for the Marilyn Harre DEMDACO Scholarship Fund on the memo line).

Finally, Marilyn also requested that we let you know that her favorite color was pink, and that she'd like everyone wear their favorite color to her service.

Thank you, all, for enriching Marilyn's life. Mom requested that we leave you with the following:

Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep

Do not stand at my grave and weep:

I am not there. I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.

I am the diamond glints of snow.

I am the gentle autumn's rain.

When you awaken in the mornings hush,

I am the swift uplifting rush of,

quiet birds circled flight.

I am the soft stars

that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry:

I am not there. I did not die.
