PHILIP STEPHEN ARNDT
1938-2008

Philip Stephen Arndt, 69, of Pensacola, FL passed away Wednesday January 23, 2008 from complications of cancer.
Mr. Arndt was born in Riverside, NJ. He proudly served his country in the US Navy and the US Marine Corps. While in the Navy he flew Fixed Wing Aircraft. After joining the US Marine Corps he was transferred to California and flew Rotary Aircraft. Upon leaving the military Mr. Arndt relocated to Pensacola and worked briefly with St. Regis Paper Company and the University of West Florida in the computer field. He later became Supervisory Computer Specialist with the Defense, Finance and Accounting Service at Saufley Field, and after a lengthy career retired in 2001. He was a longtime member of East Hill Baptist Church where he served in many capacities. He also was a member of Gideons International, and various other clubs and organizations.
His parents, B. Edward Arndt and Anna J. Arndt and his wife Carolyn Conner Arndt preceded him in death.
Survivors include his loving wife, Charlotte Hyde Arndt; son, Bruce Arndt (Ilona); daughter, Phyllis Hinnant (Ray); son, Robert Hyde (Glynis); grandchildren, Christopher Hinnant (Kelly), Heather Arndt, Ben Arndt, Stephen Hinnant, Philip M. Arndt, Robert Hyde III (Kristy), and Jennifer Hyde; two great-granddaughters, Carolyn Hinnant and Addison Hyde; brother, Edward Arndt (Shirley); and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
Visitation will be held from 12 to 2 p.m. Saturday, January 26, 2008 at East Hill Baptist Church with the Funeral Service to begin at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Rick Spencer and the Rev. Jim Burkhardt officiating.
Burial will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to East Hill Baptist Church, 3960 Spanish Trail, Pensacola, FL 32504 or to Gideons International, P.O. Box 140800 Nashville, TN 37214-0800 or at www.gideons.org.
