CRASH VICTIMS' MEMORIAL HELD
About 350 boys from Scottsdale's exclusive Judson School attended a special memorial service last night for four of their companions who were killed in a private plane crash Sunday.
The boys and the pilot, father of one of them, died when their single-engine Navion Rangemaster crashed 40 miles east of Indio, Calif.
They were returning to school after a Thanksgiving weekend vacation at Palm Springs.
KILLED were Andrew D. Robertson, 48, a business executive of Palm Springs, and his son, Andrew Jr., 16. The others were identified as:
John Burton, 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilton S. Burton, Bronxville, N.Y.; Stewart Shaffer, 17, son of Mrs. G. M. Shaffer of Ensenada, Mexico; and John von Holt, 18, son of Mrs. Ronald K. Dillingham von Holt of Kohala, Hawaii,
THE FOUR were described as "really popular, good clean-cut boys," by Henry wick, director of the school. He said the entire school attended the memorial service at St. Benedict on the Desert Episcopal Church.
The cause of the crash, which scattered wreckage over a 600-yard area east of the Chiriaco Summit, near U.S. 60-70, has not been determined by the investigating Riverside County Sheriff's Office. (according to von Holt's obituary, a wing fell off the plane)
