Roland Richard Diener, 69, of Barclay, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008, at his residence. Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud, with the Rev. Rinderknecht officiating. Masonic graveside rites will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Rosebud. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Roland was born in Grossheners Dorf, Germany, to the late Erich and Lisabeth Ziesche Diener. He married Alice Herring on April 1, 1967. He owned and operated Dieners Iron Works from 1973 to 1998. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a Bluelodge mason and served as past master and currently served as treasurer. He was also a member of the Karem Shrine in Waco, the Heart of Texas Beekeepers Association in Waco and the Temple Bretheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Diener, of Barclay; son, Erich Diener and wife, Cindy, of Bay City; daughter, Michelle Tipton and husband, Howard, of Bryan; grandchildren, Elizabeth Diener, Nathan Diener, Corina Tipton, Joshua Tipton, Cecelia Tipton and Jericho Tipton; and brothers, Dieter Diener, Peter Diener and Uwe Diener, all of Germany.
