Jacob Hahn and Catherine Weber were married on December 23, 1888, in Milverton, Ontario. At the time of their wedding, Jacob was a sawmiller in that town. About 1890, the couple moved to New Hamburg, where Jacob worked as a carpenter. Catherine died on March 8, 1893, leaving Jacob with their two young daughters:
- Lucia Stella (1889-1963)
- Pearl Alice Margaret (1891-1957)

Jacob married his second wife, Alwine Schmiedel, on January 18, 1895, in New Hamburg. The couple had two children:
- Russell Ernest (1896-1949)
- Erna (1898-1990)
