Siblings were Russell Sieg, Charlie Sieg and included three sisters Mary Johnson, Geneva Crawford, and Ruby Sieg.
After graduating from Depauw High School, Ed joined the US Navy and became a WW II veteran. Ed was a man of integrity, wisdom and sincere dedication to family, friends, and his community. Following his military discharge,
Ed returned to Depauw and married Dolly Gurtz White Sieg. Ed and Dolly along with Dolly's daughter, Patty White moved to Bradford and became the proprietors of the Bradford Corner Tavern.
Following Dolly's death, Ed returned to Depauw again where Ed worked as a carpenter for Fessel Construction with Don and Andy Fessel. Ed and his companion Rita F. Gettelfinger enjoyed travel, spending time with many friends and relatives along local politics. Ed served as the Harrison County Commissioner for sixteen years from 1977 until 1992. Ed was elected State President to the Indiana Association of County Commissioners in 1989. Governor Evan Bayh presented Edward B. Sieg with The Sagamore of the Wabash award for his distinguished service to the citizens of Indiana in 1992.
Ed leaves behind nephews and nieces along with many friends.
Funeral will be 11 AM Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Saint Bernard Catholic Church, 7600 Hwy 337 NW, Depauw, Indiana with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 2 – 8 PM Friday, November 11, 2022 and after 9 AM Saturday at Swarens Funeral Home, 1405 Hwy 64 NW, Ramsey, Indiana.
