Parkston - Marlys Martha Moege, 87, died at Avera Bormann Manor in Parkston on Monday, November 7, 2022. Funeral service will be Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 10:30 AM at Faith Lutheran Church in Parkston with burial following in Parkston Protestant Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, November 11, 2022 from 5 - 7 PM at Faith Lutheran Church in Parkston with a prayer service at 7:00 PM.

Marlys Martha Moege was born on the Leischner family farm 8 miles southwest of Parkston on February 6, 1935, to Edward E. and Martha (Tiede) Leischner. She was baptized with her twin sister on Easter Sunday on April 21, 1935, in a country church west of the family farm. She attended Welcome School District #17 school. On November 15, 1953, she was united in marriage to Malvin Zirpel at Salem Congregational Church in Parkston. To that union, 2 children were born, Dennis and Carol. Malvin died on January 20, 1964. After Malvin's death, she worked at Statz Drug for a short time. Marlys married Herbert Moege on August 19, 1966, at Faith Lutheran Church in Parkston. To this union, 4 children were born, Gerald, Maynard, Cheryl and Lynette. Herb died on June 4, 1997. Marlys was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church in Parkston and former member of Immanuel Lutheran Church near Dimock where she served on the Altar Guild. She enjoyed singing in the church choir, gardening, canning, crocheting, and visiting with family and friends. She died at Avera Bormann Manor in Parkston on Monday, November 7, 2022, at the age of 87.

She is survived by 5 children, Dennis (Leanne) Zirpel of Presho, SD, Gerald (Suzanne) Moege of Dimock, SD, Maynard (Anne) Moege of Dimock, SD, Cheryl (Kelly) Mogck of Parkston, SD, and Lynette (Lance) Konrad of Parkston, SD, son-in-law, Keith Goehring of Parkston, SD, twin sister, Mildred (Martin) Zirpel of Parkston, SD, 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and sister-in-law, Marian Gehring.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 husbands, daughter, Carol Goehring, and brother, Calvin.
