Age 71. A former deputy sheriff for Wyoming County and county clerk until his retirement in 1984. Died at Wyoming County Comm. Hospital, following a lengthy illness. Born in Buffalo, a son of the late Fay and Cecile Colligan James. A 1939 graduate of Warsaw High School and attended Syracuse University. Member of the Trinity Episcopal Church, Erie Hose Fire Company, Warsaw Rescue Squad and Walter Klein American Legion Post. Member and past treasurer of the Warsaw Exempt Firemen and a Veteran of the US Army.
Survived by his wife Josephine Vigneri James, whom he married Nov. 7, 1953; 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Bruce and Linda James and Keith James, all of Warsaw; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Elsie James of Warsaw; a sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Merle Petherick of Warsaw and 2 granddaughters, Laura and Kelsey James of Warsaw. He was a stepbrother of the late Ellen Stearns.
