Born at Wakefield, KS, passed away at her home Junction City, Geary Co., KS, the daughter of Morris Gottlieb and Rose Susan (Meister) Gfeller. Estelene married June Gilbert Schlappi May 28, 1937 at St Johns Church of Christ, he preceded her in death October 31, 1991. They farmed in the Upland community until retired from farming 1980, moved to Junction City. Members St Johns United Church of Christ, she had been the church organist since 1930. She also taught piano lessons in Upland community for 20 years, was a 4-H Leader, member of Alida-Upland Parish Woman and directed singing group 20 years. Survived by one son, Larry Schlappi and wife Donna of Manhattan, one daughter , Barbara Oard (husband Darrell) Manhattan; two sisters, Maxine Adams of rural Junction City and Marjorie Davis and husband Webb of Junction City; one brother Clinton and wife Orella of Junction City; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral Services February 22, 2008 at the Alida-Upland Cooperative Parish, north east of Champman, burial at St Johns Cemetery east of the church.
