Violet Dean Depta, 72, of Earling, departed this life Thursday, May 17, 2007, at Logan Regional Medical Center at Logan after an extended illness. She was born April 23, 1935 at Big Creek, a daughter of the late Willard and Vienna Adkins . In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Willard Counts; one sister, Memoree Lehman; and two cousins that she considered as sisters, Ann Hager and Shirley Adkins. Violet Dean was a home maker, loving wife, mother and mamaw. She was a member of the Taplin Free Will Baptist Church at Taplin and was a good Christian woman for over 55 years. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of more than 54 years, Hobert Depta; one son, Gary (Sherry) Depta of Kistler, one daughter, Sherry Ann Depta Wooten of Earling; five grandchildren, Michelle Wooten and David Wooten of Earling whom she helped raise and Danielle, Alex, and Andrea Depta of Kistler, one brother, Frowdie (Marylin) Counts of Cleveland, OH; several nieces and nephews; and her brothers and sisters in Christ.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2007, at Taplin Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Basil Goodman and Deacon Sheldon Wells officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill. Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Sunday at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the church.

Pall bearers will be David Wooten, Alex Depta, Gary Depta, Sheldon Wells, and Richie Hager, and Nick Grimmett.
