The funeral for Lynn R. Drewes will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at Christ Lutheran Church with the Rev. James Markworth officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

Mr. Drewes, 63, of 1137 Sixth Ave., S.E., a retired U.S. Postal Service employee, died Monday at his home following a lengthy illness.

He was born July 12, 1924, at Spring Valley. He grew up in the Spring Valley and Grand Meadow area, moving to Rochester in 1947. He was married to the former Doris Rausch and after her death Aug., 14, 1952, he married Marilyn Hemingway on Feb. 20,1954, in Rochester. Mr. Drewes worked for the postal service for 20 years, first as a carrier than as a clerk, retiring in 1986.

Survivors include his wife, five sons, David of Zumbro Falls, and Darcy Sparrow, Tony. Mark and Terry, all of Rochester, three daughters, Sandy Fitzpatrick of West Concord and Marla Drake and Bonnie Birchmeier, both of Rochester, 15 grandchildren, a brother, Dean of Rochester, and a sister, Carol Youngquist, of Porterville, Calif. Three brothers preceded him in death.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ranfranz Funeral Home and from 8:30 a.m. to time of service Thursday at the church.
