Claude W. Preble Sr., 84, died at 11:00 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Hospital. He had been a patient for one day.

Mr. Preble was born on May 30, 1875, in McComb. He retired from the General Motors Corp. in Dayton in 1952 after 30 years of service. Prior to this job, he was a supervisor for the old Ohio Electric Interurban Corp.

Mr. Preble was past chancellor of Lodge No. 57, Knights of Pythias, and a member of the Central Church of Christ.

Surviving is his wife, Bertha, whom he married on Oct. 13, 1898. They had been married for over 60 years. Others surviving are a son; Claude W. Jr., a daughter; Mrs. Robert (Ruthela) Nettleton of Largo, Florida, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Chiles and Son Chapel with the Rev. Paul Runk officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
