He was seventy-six years of age, lived at 215 East Twenty-third Street, was stricken by the heat at 98 Third Avenue, and was taken to Bellevue Hospital where he died.

According to her obituary, "she was very deaf and for 30 years had hardly heard a human voice."

- Charles Rudolph Thiers born 3 December 1849 at New Jersey and died 10 Jul 1920 while at Bristol, Lincoln, Maine where he had gone "in hope that a change in climate would be beneficial." He married first Ella L. Van Voorhis, daughter of Barker Van Voorhis and Elizabeth Snedeker and married second Florence Lansing Pelletreu, daughter of Charles H. Pelletreu and Francis Louise Pelletreau.
- Lyranthia born July 1851 and died 10 June 1871 at the age of 19 years, 11 months. She was unmarried.
