Bosnian-Herzegovinian poet, author, and writer. Mak Dizdar published his first collection of poems "Vidopoljska noć" in 1936. He wrote for the Sarajevo newspaper and magazine "Gajret" and was the editor of the newspaper "Oslobođenje." One of Dizdar's most famous works is "Stone Sleeper" (Kameni spavač), published in 1966. After "Kameni spavač," he published his last collection, "Blue River" (Modra Rijeka) in 1971. Mehmedalija Mak Dizdar is pictured on the 10 KM (convertible mark) banknote in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Many schools, streets, and other institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina are named after him. He died on July 14, 1971 in Sarajevo and was buried at Bare cemetery in Sarajevo.
