Clara Ritter is famous as the invertor of the square chocolate for the pocket. She founded in the age of only 23 a shop for sweets in Bad Cannstatt. After her marriage the couple ran two chocolate shops there with their own production. In 1912 they founded the now famous chocolate and confectionery factory later know as Ritter Sport Chocolate in Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt.
The spatial conditions in Bad Cannstatt quickly became too small and the Alfred Ritter Sport company moved to Waldenbuch in 1930.
