Frank was born in the tiny hamlet of Celsita, Scigliano, Cosenza, Calabria, Italy and came to America at the age of 9, in 1898 with his father, Carmine. They worked in the mines for two years to send money home for the rest of their family to join them. Tragically, Frank's young life was cut short in a mining accident when he was 19 years old.
