Alvin Ernest Ziehr, 88, passed away February 20, 2015. He was born on March 25, 1926 in Cisco, Texas to Reinhart and Lydia Ziehr. Alvin served his country during WWII in the Pacific. After his service in the Army, he returned to Cisco where he was a farmer until he moved to Houston in 1954. Alvin worked at the Rath Meat Packing Plant for 30 years as a Stationary Engineer until the plant closed. Alvin retired 6 years later finishing his career at Park Plaza Hospital. Alvin was an avid woodworker and gardener. He cherished every moment he spent with his grandchildren and his family. He was an active member of Epiphany Lutheran Church in Pearland. Alvin was preceded in death by his parents Reinhart and Lydia Zeihr; son Glenn Ray Ziehr; two brothers Eugene and Carl Zeihr; and two sisters Marie Winge and Juanita Cockrell Brown. Alvin is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, two daughters, three grandchildren, one sister and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Alvin Ernest Ziehr were held Tuesday, February 24, 2015. The family wishes to thank everyone for their kind words and support.
