OBIT: Clara Lou Aten, 83, Lancaster, Calif., formerly of Macomb, died at 5:45 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, at the Antelope Valley Health Care Center, Lancaster, Calif. She was born Feb. 28, 1920, in McDonough County, the daughter of Robert Paul and Beulah Mae (Kreps) Keithley. She married Keith Aten June 5, 1938, in Burlington, Iowa. He preceded her in death Sept. 20, 1988. She is survived by three daughters, Sandra Hamilton (Ernie Carlson), Covington, Ga., Linda (Bill) Kelly, Lancaster, Calif., and Sue Thomas, Canyon Country, Calif.; two sons, Ronnie (Maria Wolkow) Aten and Rickie (Shelia) Aten, both of Louisville, Ky.; one sister, Barbara Miller, Macomb; 12 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Nina McMillan, and one grandchild, Jacque Kelly. She was a waitress for many years. She worked at Derry's Café, Macomb, and after returning from California, was a hostess at the former Holiday Inn, Macomb. She loved bowling, gardening and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004, at Sargent-Worthington Funeral Home, Macomb. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation is Friday, Jan. 16, 2004, from 4-6 p.m. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
