C L. Meissner moved to Bartlett in 1883 and during his first two years built homes for Charles A. Lindemann Sr. and Nicolous Miihlhause. In 1885 he married Emma Miihlhause (b. Mar. 28, 1866), daughter of Niclolous. They made their home in Bartlett for five years. During this perios he served as one of the aldermen of the town. Later, they moved to their farm east of town and lived there for 42 years. After Meissner's death, his widow moved into town.
Meissner died December 14, 1935, and Emma Meissner died July 22, 1956. Their adopted son, Hardy G., was born June 20, 1894, and died October 8, 1923. All their marked graves are in the City Cemetery at Bartlett.
