John V. Wiener, 86, of Montour, died on Wednesday evening, April, 22, 2020, at Southridge Specialty Care in Marshalltown. In accordance with John's wishes, cremation rites are scheduled and no public services are planned.

Memorials in John's name may be directed to the Tama or Toledo American Legion or the Tama Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Born on January 31, 1934, in Marshalltown, John was the son of Charles and Ina (Frantz) Wiener. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from the Tama High School in 1952.

He served in the U.S. Marines from 1954 – 1956, stationed in California and Japan. A few years after his honorable discharge, John married Helen Backen in 1958. The couple later divorced.

On January 1, 1992, he married Joyce (Van Gorp) Bolen and the couple made their home on the farm in Montour where John enjoyed raising crops, being a dairy farmer, raising beef cattle, and owning his bulldozing and tiling business. He also enjoyed his Allis Chalmers tractors, woodworking, and working in his shop.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce; his children, Debra (Bob) Husak of Toledo, Janet Houghton of Tama, Leann (Bill) Finnigan of Farmington, NY, Karla (Jim) Novotny of Tama, Dennis Wiener of Tama and Jerald Wiener of Tama; stepchildren, Kenneth Bolen and Jeremy (Regina) Bolen; and his grandchildren and step grandchildren.

In eternal life, John is reunited with his parents and former wife, Helen Wiener.
