Dorothy Rieger Scroggins of Lake Worth passed away from this world on Saturday, April 22, 2023 after a long illness.

Dorothy Helen Rieger was born February 20, 1934 in Lott, Texas, to Andrew and Wilhelmina Niekamp Rieger. In 1946, the family moved to Tours, Texas, where she att4ended St. Martin's Catholic School and graduated from West High School in 1951. On October 29, 1955, she was united in marriage to Norman Scroggins.

She was preceded in death by her parents Andrew and Wilhelmina Rieger and brother, Wilfred Rieger, Sr. of Tours. She is survived by her husband, Norman Scroggins; children, Shirley and husband, Terry Dulworth, Dennis and wife Lynn Scroggins, and Karen and husband Eric Nelson; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Charles Rieger, sisters, Lillian McNeill and Barbara Pressley and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation is from 5 -7 p.m. May 14, at Lucas Hurst Chapel in Hurst, Texas.

A Rosary and Mass will be on May 15 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Keller, Texas. Interment is to follow at DFW National Cemetery at 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway in Dallas, Texas.

Dorothy was born February 20, 1934 to Andrew and Wilhelmina Rieger in Lott, Texas. She grew up on the family farms in Lott and Tours, Texas.

Dorothy was a dedicated daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She lived a long, beautiful life spent loving her ever growing family.

Dorothy met the love of her life, Norman Scroggins, on a blind date. They married on October 29,1955 and raised three wonderful children. Her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were a tremendous source of pride and joy. She was always their biggest supporter in all of their activities.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Norman; her children Shirley (Terry) Dulworth, Dennis (Lynn) Scroggins , Karen (Eric) Nelson; six grandchildren Clinton (Andrea) Dulworth, Gregory (Jennifer) Dulworth, Candace (Mel) Scroggins, Ryan (Lindsay) Scroggins, Sara Nelson ( Mitchell) Milligan, Steven Nelson; eight great-grandchildren Ella Dulworth, Avery Dulworth, Aria Dulworth, Samuel Kinsey, Jaxon Dulworth, Michael Scroggins, Tyler Scoggins, Heidi Jo Milligan; sisters and brother, Lillian (Patrick) McNeill, Charles (Brenda) Rieger, Barbara (Barry) Pressley, sister-in-law Jeanette Rieger, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in passing by her parents, Andrew and Wilhelmina Rieger and brother, Wilfred Rieger.
